About Springfield MO Electrician

Springfield MO Electrician is a residential electrical service for Springfield and the towns around it in Greene, Christian, and Webster counties. We focus on the electrical systems inside and around your home: repairs, panel upgrades, EV chargers, lighting, generators, and rewiring.

What do we focus on?

Most of our work is for homeowners who have a problem or a project. A breaker that won't stay on, a fuse box that needs to go, a new car that needs a charger, a kitchen that needs better light, or a house that needs to stay powered through the next ice storm. Each service has its own page:

  • Electrical Repair

Dead outlets, tripping breakers, flickering lights, buzzing switches, and other problems tracked down and fixed.

  • Electrical Panel Upgrades

New breaker panels, service upgrades to 200 amps, and replacement of fuse boxes and problem panels.

  • EV Charger Installation

Level 2 home chargers and 240-volt outlets, with a load check to see whether your panel can handle it.

  • Lighting Installation

Recessed lights, ceiling fans, fixture swaps, under-cabinet lighting, and outdoor and security lights.

  • Generator Installation

Standby generators and transfer switches so you can keep power on safely when the grid goes down.

  • Home Rewiring

Replacing old knob-and-tube or worn wiring, adding grounded outlets, and rewiring during remodels.

We don't do large commercial or industrial projects, utility line work, or solar panel installation. If your project needs a different kind of specialist, we'll say so up front.

What can you expect when you call?

You'll talk to someone about what's going on, the town, and how soon you need help. For repairs, the next step is usually a visit to find the cause. For projects, someone comes out to look at your panel and the space and talk through options. After that you get a written estimate that says what's included, such as parts, labor, and the permit, so you can compare it with other bids.

The work is done by a licensed electrician, and it's permitted and inspected where the city or county requires it. That protects you when you sell the house, file an insurance claim, or need City Utilities to reconnect power after an upgrade.

Why does local knowledge matter for electrical work?

Electrical work in Springfield has local rules that don't apply everywhere. Inside city limits, permits go through Building Development Services, and City Utilities has its own service standards for meters, service upgrades, and generators. For example, upgrades that increase the capacity of a home's main panel or meter base inside the city must be done by a licensed and bonded electrician, and generators have to be connected through a transfer switch.

Local knowledge also means knowing the housing. Many Springfield neighborhoods have homes built before 1970, with older panels and wiring that need a careful eye. You can read more about that on the home page.

How do you check who you're hiring?

Missouri doesn't license electricians statewide, so Springfield licenses electrical contractors through its Building Development Services. The city lets you confirm a contractor's license on its website, or you can call the permit desk at 417-864-1585. Ask any electrician you're considering for their license number and proof of insurance before work starts.
